Salary:£51,600 - £77,400 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The roleSSEN Transmission is looking for a Protection Technical Assurance Engineer to join our Network Engineering team, supporting the safe, reliable and standardised use of protection Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) across our transmission network. Working with Protection, Automation and Control (PAC) and Real Time Systems (RTS) experts, you will assess, test and maintain approved IED types, configurations and technical guidance for safe application across SSEN Transmission projects.
Youwill
- Assess new and existing protection IEDs against SSEN Transmission requirements, technical specifications, industry standards and supporting compliance evidence.
- Create, test and maintain standardised IED configuration files, including binary input/output requirements and associated test routines.
- Maintain and update approved IED guidance, registers and associated documentation, including technical approval outputs and configuration records.
- Support Helinks STS library updates and integration activity, working with vendor tools and internal stakeholders to support IEC 61850 data requirements.
- Provide technical input into deviation requests, risk assessments, project assurance activity, manufacturer engagement and occasional type testing witness activity.
- Experience of IED configuration and testing, ideally using tools such as GE MiCOM S1, Siemens Reydisp Manager, Omicron Test Universe or IED Scout.
- Knowledge of protection, automation and control systems, including relevant standards, IED suitability considerations and communication protocols such as IEC 61850 or DNP
3. - A relevant HND, degree or equivalent practical engineering experience, supported by the ability to assess technical issues and evaluate solutions.
- Strong analytical and digital skills, including confident use of spreadsheets, databases and technical documentation.
- A disciplined, organised and self-motivated approach, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively with technical stakeholders.
