Key Responsibilities
  • Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable, work in progress (WIP) status;
  • Provide regular reports on cash collections, aged debt and WIP positions;
  • Perform credit risk assessments, set-up terms of credit, and manage accounts to ensure timely debt payment;.
  • Chase debts for payment, negotiate repayment plans, and implement recovery procedures for overdue balances;
  • Proactively manage client balances on matters and resolve credit control related queries;
  • Ensure client invoices are clear for payment and resolve payment disputes promptly;
  • Monitor trust and client accounts ensuring proper application to open invoices;
  • Lead the matter-opening process;
  • Coordinate the billing process, raise invoices, monitor WIP levels, and ensure timely delivery;
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial systems and reporting tools;
  • Assist in the delivery of finance team training.
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (ideally at least 5 at Grade 6 or above, including Maths and English) or equivalent qualifications;
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a credit control role, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment;
  • Prior experience working with practice management software (Tabs, 3E or similar);
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word) and financial reporting tools;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
