* Purpose:

** Reporting to the VP Bermuda Controller, this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Bermuda Statutory Close process and associated team members.
** Accountabilities:
*** Supporting the Senior Management team of Bermuda Financial Reporting, the Director, Finance, is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Bermuda statutory financial reporting (BSTAT) for all applicable regulated entities.
* Lead the process and review monthly and quarterly financial reporting journal entries and controls related to reinsurance activities and other calculations to support the quarterly BSTAT reporting and other bases of accounting where applicable (i.e. GAAP).
* Act as a key escalation point and trusted advisor to the other members of the Senior Management team on any new transactions and/or issues impacting BSTAT reporting.
* Coordinate across all departments on quarterly financial close activities pertaining to BSTAT (Actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance Accounting, Investment Accounting, Tax).
* Key contact internally and externally for the external year-end BSTAT audited financial statements, which are filed with the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
* Key contact and coordinator internally for any ad-hoc filing requests or surveys from the Bermuda Monetary Authority or other parties related to BSTAT.
* Mentor, guide and manage the day-to-day managerial representatives and/or accountants, in the processing of transactions, preparation of financial statement analytics and financial statements.
* Review quarterly/annual financial reporting disclosures related to Bermuda inputs to the SEC 10-K and 10-Q reporting, as well as annual stand-alone legal entity GAAP reporting as it pertains to BSTAT information.
* Implement, document and maintain appropriate processes and controls in accordance with the Company’s BSTAT control framework and assist with the Bermuda Finance SOX & EBS framework documentation if applicable.
* Support the Bermuda finance team with improvements related to Bermuda processes as it pertains to BSTAT Reporting.
* Other duties as required.
** Qualifications and

Experience:

*** Bachelor’s degree with a recognized accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, etc.)
* 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years of recent life and annuity insurance and reinsurance accounting experience
* Experience with US GAAP and Bermuda regulatory reporting for reinsurance/insurance companies and life/annuity products
* Experience managing team members
* Strong controls background, including experience with Sarbanes Oxley
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
* Perceptive, self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities
* Ability to manage multiple projects at once and know how to prioritize deadlines
* Willingness to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
* Dedicated team player who is flexible and adaptable to change
* Organized and has good attention to detail
