This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional pharmacist to join our dedicated & enthusiastic team of pharmacists based at Wrightington hospital, a clinical centre for excellence in orthopaedics.

With increasing numbers of biologic agents available, the successful candidate will become an integral part of our multidisciplinary team providing exceptional care.

This exciting new position develops you to utilise your skills as an independent prescriber, prescribing biologics, medications such as DMARDs, involving the education of patients and staff.

Developing and implementing the biosimilar switch programs in Rheumatology and Dermatology alongside the consultants, specialist nurses and be heavily involved in improving home-care provision to these patients.

Based at Wrightington, supporting specialist services across the trust, using your skills, knowledge and experience to provide an exceptional clinical service in rheumatology, dermatology, elective orthopaedics and orthopaedic trauma, including prescribing medications on admission for these patients.

You need to be able to work under pressure and manage and motivate others, be able to influence the multidisciplinary team and engage with key stakeholders

This role is perfect for a pharmacist who is innovative, enthusiastic, dynamic, compassionate and a committed team player.

Working alongside the MDT to improve the prescribing and management of biologic agents and homecare provision, including prescribing and teaching.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will supervise, support, and develop other pharmacy staff, in particular junior pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists, and other Trust personnel as required.

Applicants need to be able to work autonomously, be a team player whilst motivating others, also provide cross-cover to other areas within the Specialist team on a reciprocal basis

To develop and implement PGDs, policies and SOPs to be used across the specialist services division. You will also be an integral part of the MDT by providing advice to others working within the division.

Oversee clinical pharmacy service provision for inpatients in association with Principal Pharmacist

Working within professional boundaries to provide person‑centred, evidence‑based structured medication reviews for all medical patients; to ensure appropriate, cost‑effective and safe provision of medicines.

Close working with the multi‑disciplinary team, which may include attendance at MDT meetings. Interacting with a wide variety of health/social care professionals including Specialist nurses, based in the hospital and pharmacy colleagues in community pharmacy, GP practices

Participate in departmental and clinical audit.

Provision of expert advice, information and recommendations on medicines and prescribing

Promote safe and effective use of medicines, minimise waste and reduce medicines related incidents/errors
