** Position summary**:
The Network Architect serves as the primary technical lead for Arch Reinsurance’s network, DNS, IP, storage, and telecommunications architecture across the Bermuda region and supporting global environments. This role ensures that network and related infrastructure designs meet Arch Re’s business, operational, and security requirements, while collaborating closely with Corporate Infrastructure team, peer business units, Enterprise Architecture, Info Sec, and local vendors.
** Duties & Responsibilities**###
** Architecture & Network Design
*** Oversee AMIS network operations, security and design activities, ensuring all business requirements are fully incorporated into architectural solutions.
* Review major implementations in Enterprise Architecture Committee and support Change Approval processes.
* Validate new network and network‑related service designs for technical accuracy, operational impact, licensing, and alignment to business cycles.
* Own IP architecture including DNS, DHCP, subnets, VRF design, address space management, and Cisco ISE operations.###
** Storage Architecture
*** Own the storage environment (on prem, Nimble and Synology), including connectivity, upgrades, patching, capacity planning, standards, and documentation###
** Telecommunications & Vendor Management
*** Manage all Bermuda & Arch Re telecommunications services and vendors, and conduct vendor and competitor analysis.
* Manage Audio Codes, Ring Central (IVR, Auto Receptionist, Limited Extensions), and room systems.
* Monitoring, Change & Incident Management
* Support monitoring systems and security tools including Thousand Eyes, Smokeping, Solar Winds Orion, Bit Sight, Wiz, and Tenable
* Oversee all network‑related changes through Change Management Boards
* Act as primary escalation point for network, wireless, telecom, Azure networking, Mimecast, and ISP incidents###
** Administration & Leadership
*** Lead Arch Re Infrastructure Engineering, serve as Backup IT Manager for Arch Re Bermuda offices, and oversee SSL/domain lifecycle, documentation (Confluence, Lucid diagrams), and team guidance on infrastructure and security.
** Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
* 10 years’ network experience (routing, switching, wireless,firewalls), including 3 years working with Cloud technologies (Azure and AWS).
* Cisco Professional Certification required.
* Significant Linux and Windows experience, including scripting, troubleshooting, and automation (Powershell or other scripting tools).
* Proven expertise with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Solarwinds Orion and Thousand Eyes.
* Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, QoS and SD-WAN in troubleshooting and design.
* Hands‑on experience with VMware and cloud‑based virtualized environments
* Strong knowledge of Server architecture, virtualization and storage architecture.
* Experience implementing backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
* Strong understanding of network security, controls, and ITIL Change Management
* Working Knowledge of Agile SDLC methodologies.
* Proven ability to diagnose complex issues, manage escalations, and operate in a fast‑paced, high‑complexity environment
* Ability to quickly identify root causes from incomplete or inaccurate reports and recommend effective solutions.
* Proven understanding of key networking hardware, including CPUs, wiring, and routers.
* Extensive experience with creating and maintaining network documentation and diagrams.
* Strong ability to adapt and be flexible in an extremely dynamic environment, comprising of high degree of complexities and priorities, this includes the ability to manage and address escalations and occasional changes to non-core business hours.
* Excellent communication skills with ability to cross-train team members.
