We have posts within the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit for band 5 Staff Nurses. The unit consists of 2 wards (ward 212 & ward 213) with a total of 40 beds. We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries from minor hand and foot injuries to major trauma patients with multiple injuries.
The unit is fast‑paced with a high turnover of patients aged 16 and up. This post offers the opportunity to gain skills working with pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
We are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic nurses with an interest in surgical nursing & orthopaedics. Successful candidates should possess excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
Previous experience working with adults with incapacity or dementia is desirable but training will be provided.
ResponsibilitiesProvide nursing care to a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries, support surgical teams, and manage patient care pre‑ and post‑operatively in a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications & ExperienceBand 5 staff nurse registration.
- Interest and willingness to work in surgical nursing & orthopaedics.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Desirable experience with adults with incapacity or dementia.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. A corresponding increase in hourly rate will offset any impact on pay.
