Senior Mechanical Engineer role at WSP in the U.S. – Hamilton, NJ office.
OverviewWSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Hamilton, NJ office location to work with our Northeast Property & Buildings Region. The Mechanical Engineer plans and conducts work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to successfully complete small‑to‑medium engineering projects.
Responsibilities- Prepare basic deliverables and products including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Set deadlines and assign responsibilities.
- Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
- Design mechanical systems including calculations of heating and cooling loads while adhering to the firm’s QA/QC process.
- Select and layout mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, fans, and boilers.
- Develop project specifications.
- Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future or current projects.
- Responsible for meeting the client’s project goals and objectives.
- Assist in business development by pursuing new work including participation in client presentations.
- Assist in the firm’s human‑resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members.
- Enhance the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership of accomplishing internal and external client requests.
- Demonstrate core values and serve as a role model/mentor to all firm members.
- Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in area of expertise; also serve on the firm’s Technical Committee as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited engineering program.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience working in a consulting engineering firm.
- Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, decision‑making, and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Experience with Deltek or Project Resource Management software preferred.
- Ability to meet and exceed client expectations.
- PE license preferred.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $83,200 – $145,530.
