Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

North Mississippi Medical Center

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and establishes treatment plan for any patient referred to Occupational Therapy
  • Remains competent in the following areas:
    Standardized testing, Therapeutic exercise, ADL training, Cognitive skills, Wheelchair transfers
  • Attends and provides continuing education in-servicing
  • Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers
  • Serves as clinical instructor for OTA students after one year of experience as a clinician
  • Completes documentation according to all regulations and in a timely manner
Supervisory
  • Delegates authority to Technicians
Clinical
  • Maintains productivity level at department target
  • Evaluates and establishes treatment plan for any patient referred to Occupational Therapy
  • Remains competent in the following areas:
    Standardized testing, Therapeutic exercise, ADL training, Cognitive skills, Wheelchair transfers
  • Attends and provides continuing education in-servicing
  • Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers
  • Serves as clinical instructor for OTA students after one year of experience as a clinician
  • Completes documentation according to all regulations and in a timely manner
Budget
  • Remains within monthly budget when ordering equipment and supplies
  • Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment
Other
  • Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes
Requirements
  • Must have an Associates Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Must hold a current state License based on facility location
  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment of the following areas where applicable:
    Neonates/Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
