Physical Therapist at North Mississippi Health Services Job Summary

The Physical Therapist at North Mississippi Health Services is integral to the Rehabilitation Services department. This role involves evaluating patients and creating treatment plans, ensuring competence in various therapeutic areas. The Physical Therapist collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, adheres to regulations, and maintains patient satisfaction through effective clinical decision-making and equipment management.

Job Functions
  • Supervisory:
    • Delegate authority to PTAs and technicians.
    • Provide supervisory visits according to state regulations.
  • Budget:
    • Remain within monthly budget when ordering equipment and supplies.
    • Charge patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment equipment.
  • Clinical:
    • Maintain productivity level at department target.
    • Evaluate and establish treatment plan for any patient referred to Physical Therapy.
    • Demonstrate skills in Evaluation, Therapeutic Exercise/Activity, Gait training, Cognitive skills, Wheelchair transfers, Modalities as appropriate for PT.
    • Attend and provide continuing education services.
    • Serve as mentor for new employees.
    • Serve as clinical instructor after one year of experience as a clinician.
    • Complete documentation according to all regulations in a timely manner.
  • Other:
    • Be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes.
  • Regulation:
    • Adhere to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
    • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, laws, and statutes.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy. Required.
  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. Preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment of neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Participate in Clinical Ladder program as applicable.
  • Plan, organize, and implement patient treatment.
  • Coordinate patient treatment schedule with other PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, SLPs, and rehab technicians.
  • Participate in PI projects, committees, and teams and report as appropriate.
  • Establish and revise new and existing treatment protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Interact with team members, physicians, nursing personnel, social workers, payers, and other medical staff in person, by phone, and/or written communication.
  • Extensive contact with patients and visitors both in person and by phone.
