Overview

Database Architect (Database Modeler/Developer) – Hamilton, NJ. Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 remote. Duration: 12+ months contract. In-person interview required.

Role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing highly complex, reliable, and scalable databases to meet organizational objectives and requirements.

• The Database Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing infrastructure to provide highly complex, reliable, and scalable databases to meet the organization’s objectives and requirements.
• Be familiar with a variety of database technologies, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal or no direct supervision.
• Assist in defining system and application architecture and provide vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to the organization.
• Consult with the client to define needs or issues, conduct research, perform studies and surveys to obtain data, and analyze problems to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of the specific discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of specific database systems and hands-on work in all phases of database design and management. Experience in various technologies and roles including database systems of any type and size.

• Design and develop database systems that are efficient, scalable, and secure. Determine appropriate database architecture, data storage, and indexing techniques. Hands-on experience building relational data models, tables, views, functions, grants, triggers, stored procedures, and indexes.
• Work closely with software developers and system administrators to ensure databases meet performance and scalability requirements. Analyze data needs, identify appropriate database systems, design and implement structures, and ensure data security and integrity.
• Experience in backend data integration and architecture including dimensional data modeling (partitioning), data warehousing, ETL development, and performance tuning with the Microsoft Power BI stack.
• Experience in DB migration projects (Oracle to SQL) with understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
• Design the DB deployment strategy and maintenance across environments.
• Experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory. Ability to manage users and access strategies integrated with applications.
• Focus on designing and maintaining data warehouses for large-scale data analysis and reporting; collaborate with data analysts and BI professionals to design data models and efficient data extraction queries.
• Experience with cloud data management; AWS RDS experience is a plus.
• Ensure data security and integrity, implement encryption, access controls, backups, and recovery procedures; maintain data quality and validation rules.
• Ability to automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
