Job Description

Summary:

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both the business and technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets users' needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, including identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

The process proceeds from concept to production to operation.

The Product Service Engineer (PSE) within the Systems Organization is a cross-functional role that bridges the gap between product development and customer needs by providing technical support, troubleshooting, and improving product performance after release to the field. The PSE role is the voice of the customer within GE internal organizations and will act as the technical point of contact for GE Marine Program Managers, Marine Field Services, engine manufacturing, production test cell, and GE marine overhaul shops.

The PSE translates internal GE messages to external communication that is clear and transparent, keeping the customer at the forefront and ensuring they have the most relevant information to keep their fleet safe and operational.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • The Product Line Leader partners with internal stakeholders as well as external customers (Aero Alliance JV, GE Vernova, and Baker Hughes) and end users to provide technical support and clear containment plans when necessary for fielded marine engines.
  • Interface with end users and program managers to provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams regarding product functionality, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Support customer issue resolution, fleet issues, service bulletin implementation, monitoring & diagnostics, and fleet configuration.
  • Analyze field data, customer feedback, and performance trends to identify areas for product enhancement, reliability improvements, and cost reduction.
  • Work closely with systems engineers, design and manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders to implement design changes, improve product quality, and ensure smooth product launches.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including service bulletins, service manuals, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
  • Work collaboratively within a global, cross-functional team (PSE, systems, repair, design) to provide guidance on field problem resolutions, corrective action implementation, and produce results to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of Aeroderivative or industrial gas turbine experience in operations, design or repair
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other “STEM” majors from an accredited university
  • Proven solid experience in fleet management field issues resolution
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of aero-engine architectures and applications
  • Able to prioritize work, plan milestones and communicate effectively to external customers
