The Human Resources Generalist will act as the frontline HR representative for all employees  HR Generalist will be responsible for providing applicants and employees with excellent customer service and problem resolution while always maintaining strict confidentiality of information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Effectively maintains, secures, and files confidential records.
  • Maintains an understanding of BCRTA policies and procedures.
  • Distributes the employee handbook as needed.
  • Collects, analyzes, updates, and distributes all HR records as needed including but not limited to position descriptions, evaluation documents, job postings, and governmental forms.
  • Manages all processes related to unemployment compensation, Workers Compensation, disability and FMLA.
  • Assists with the hiring, onboarding, and orientation process.
  • Attends outside training as needed.
  • Represents BCRTA at conferences, hiring events, community involvement events and any other business organization that is associated with BCRTA as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with BCRTA personnel and contract partners to ensure efficient personnel functions and distribute required information.
  • Prioritizes communications and responses to provide superior customer service.
  • Responsible for tracking monthly HR statistics, compliance with EEOC, accident file audits, new hire onboarding, and the drug and alcohol program compliance.
  • Maintains composure and acts thoughtfully under pressure.
  • Promotes a positive public image of BCRTA and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Requests time off as required by BCRTA policy.
  • Assists management with special projects.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining SOPs and workflows for all HR practices.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must have the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instruments.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend corrective courses of action.
  • Ability to multitask in a quick‑paced environment with accuracy.
  • Well‑developed oral and written communication ability.
  • Demonstrates excellent command of the English language.
  • Work under frequent periods of stress.
  • Poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to perform simple math.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • EXPERIENCE
    • Applicable experience in HR functions.
    • Experience with Paycom or other HR management software.
    EDUCATION

    Associates degree with four years of HR experience or a bachelor’s degree and two years of HR experience. Degree focus in HR, business, sociology, or psychology preferred.

    LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
    • HRCI, PHR or SHRM certification.

    BCRTA is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio organized as a Regional Transit Authority under Ohio code. BCRTA acts as the designated recipient for Federal Transit Funds and provides public transportation services within and around Butler County, Ohio including Hamilton, Middletown, Fairfield, West Chester, Oxford, and Miami University. The BCRTA employs or directs around 120 transit employees and manages an annual budget over $7M.

    BCRTA is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees.

    BCRTA is a public transit agency dedicated to support Butler County’s quality of life and economic development through public transportation solutions.
