Overview
Youth Sports Official I - Fitton Family YMCA – Great Miami Valley YMCA. Under the direction of the Sports Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley YMCA Association, the Youth Sports Official I is responsible for officiating excellent and safe youth programs for YMCA members and program participants in sports programs.

- Monitors play to oversee the safety of players and ensure the sport and YMCA rules are followed.
- Ensures the gym(s) are ready for games with physical setting and equipment.
- Communicates and enforces sports rules effectively while providing leadership during all games according to YMCA policy.
- Maintains cleanliness of the gym area.
- Sets up and tears down all equipment needed for play prior to start up time.
- Builds relationships with members and program participants.
- Ensures safety by communicating and enforcing any rules, policies, and guidelines at participants’ comprehension level.
- Ensures safety by checking for hazardous conditions and making sure all safety equipment is properly placed and in proper working condition.
- Follows all sports program rules, dress code, policies, and guidelines.
- Creates an atmosphere based on fair play and demonstrates it in a professional manner.
- Must be at least 14 years of age or older.
- Willingness to complete:
Child Abuse Prevention training, Basic Life Support;
First Aid; and New Staff Orientation. - Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Six months or more of related sports and/or officiating experience preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation.

- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and act swiftly in an emergency
- Assist with implementing rules and regulations of all youth sports programs
