Title: Preschool Gymnastics Instructor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Status: Part Time
Starting Pay: $10.70

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Program Instructor is responsible for conducting safe, high‑quality gymnastics lessons for all program participants. The Program Instructor, Recreational Gymnastics is also responsible for maintaining a clean gymnastics center.

Essential Functions:

  • Instruct gymnastics lessons in accordance with GMV YMCA teaching guidelines, having prepared lessons accordingly.
  • Enforce all gymnastic center/gymnasium rules.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate those objectives to participants.
  • Maintain all instructional equipment, including proper usage and storage of any program materials.
  • Monitor participants’ performance to make suggestions for improvement and ensure safety and knowledge of course standards and objectives.
  • Maintain records and paperwork as required (i.e., attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  • Ensure that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Model relationship‑building in all interactions.
  • Schedule, attend, and facilitate required trainings, branch, and association meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications:

    Current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certificates preferred.
  • Must have experience in gymnastics safety and gymnastics skill. Must have experience teaching to all levels.
  • Must possess ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and the general public.
  • Must have knowledge of the YMCA mission and application of core values in providing customer service.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
