Position
Non CDL Driver
Immediate SupervisorTransportation Supervisor
Pay Rate18.50 - 28.21 $/hour based on applicable experience
Essential Functions- Ensure safety of students.
- Transport students safely and efficiently to and from school and related events.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules.
- Maintain required records and information.
- Report any mechanical problems to the supervisor or utility worker.
- Keep assigned vehicle neat and clean.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of driving laws applicable to transporting school children.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Observe mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain pupil control and report violations to authorities.
- Discharge students only at authorized bus stops.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Enforce applicable federal and state laws and Board of Education policies.
- Complete pre‑trip vehicle inspections.
- Report hazardous conditions along routes to the supervisor.
- Attend bus driver meetings and be available for early dismissals.
- Notify supervisor of illness to allow time for substitute driver.
- Conduct front door, rear door, and combined emergency evacuation drills.
- Prepare reports, route maps, schedules, pupil lists, and accident reports as required by state and board regulations.
- Make contact with the public with tact and diplomacy.
- Maintain respect for confidential information such as student identification and medication.
- Interact positively with staff, students, and parents.
- Promote good public relations through appearance, attitude, conversation, and safe bus operation.
- Attend required meetings and in‑services.
- Fill out Incident Reports and “Code of Student Behavior” violations.
- Warm up the engine gradually in cold weather.
- Exercise responsible leadership on out‑of‑district field trips.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

- Safety equipment on bus (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, body fluid kit, etc.)
- Various hand‑held items (tire iron, oil can, flares, broom, dustpan, flashlight, squeegee)
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a bus or vehicle in inclement weather.
- Frequent interaction with unruly children.
- Occasional evening, weekend, and summer work.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of bus supplies.
- Frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching during inspections.
- Frequent balancing when adjusting side mirrors.
- Frequent extended sitting (up to 4 hours).
- Frequent exposure to high noise levels from bus engines.
- Frequent repetitive hand motions such as opening doors and turning the steering wheel.
- Occasional lifting or moving of students, including wheelchair‑bound students.
- Occasional carrying of students during emergency evacuation.
- Frequent exposure to fumes such as carbon monoxide and diesel fuel.
- Frequent requirements to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see (color vision required), read, speak, reach, stretch, crouch, climb, balance, kneel, and stoop.

- Occasional overtime work.
