Description
General
Role and Responsibilities:
To assist the teacher, achieve teaching Objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.
General Skills And Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Special Ed. Aide)
- Prior job experience preferred
- Meet requirements to be highly qualified (Special Ed. Paraprofessional - Associates degree, 60 college credits or pass the Indiana Praxis test)
- To work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
- To assist the teacher in reinforcing materials or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their NEEDS, interest and abilities
- Will help student’s master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teach to provide on-going skill development
- To guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher
- To assist with the supervision of students
- To participate in in-service training programs as assigned
- To maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all staff
