General Summary
The Apprentice Nondestructive Testing Technician assists the Technician or Senior Technician in performing inspections using various NDT techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions according to specific written criteria. The Apprentice may calibrate instruments or perform other duties under the supervision of a certified Technician or Senior Technician.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards and practices, and legal regulations, alerting others to potential hazards.
- Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM’s Core Values.
- Assists the Technician or Senior Technician during NDT inspections.
- Studies to gain NDT certifications while assisting and gaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Understanding of basic math.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word and computer equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
- Travel requirement: 0-75%.
- Ability to handle chemicals safely.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- May be required to travel out of town periodically.
Work Conditions
- Position based at a branch or site location.
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant environment.
- Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
- Work around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
- Must wear safety equipment as required.
- May be at multiple job sites in a day and tolerate climate changes.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to walk and climb, except during non-field duties.
- Effective communication skills, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Sufficient manual dexterity for routine office duties.
- Mobility and physical reflexes to perform duties and travel.
- Ability to access elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
