CNC Operator 1st Shift

This role focuses on operating and setting up multiple CNC mills and lathes in a clean, modern job shop environment. You will run production on CNC machines, perform frequent setups, and ensure parts meet quality standards through basic inspections and maintenance.

• Operate and run parts on 23 CNC machines at once,

• Set up CNC mills and lathes, including preparing tooling, loading programs, and verifying correct machine parameters.

• Perform 34 complete setups per day on CNC mills and lathes with 3-axis configurations.

• Machine a variety of materials such as stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and some plastics according to job specifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are machined to correct dimensions and tolerances.

• Use calipers and other basic measuring tools to perform in-process and final inspections on machined parts.

• Use hand and power tools to perform basic maintenance and adjustments on machines and tooling.

• Monitor machine operations, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.

• Collaborate with machinists and other team members to prioritize work, troubleshoot problems, and meet production deadlines.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.

• Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes in a production or job shop environment.

• Hands-on experience operating CNC mills in a production or job shop environment.

• Previous experience working in a job shop environment with varied, short-run jobs.

• Experience operating HAAS machines, including setup and production.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Ability to perform basic dimensional inspections using calipers and similar measuring tools.

• Familiarity with operating 3-axis CNC machines.

• Ability to use hand and power tools for basic maintenance and adjustments on machines.

• Experience with Mori and Mazak CNC machines.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple machines simultaneously.

• Comfort working in a job shop culture where ownership and accountability for ones work are expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hammond, IN.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
