Hammond, IN is looking for a Lead Diesel Mechanic to join their safety-conscious team! The Lead Diesel Mechanic oversees day‑to‑day shop operations, supervises maintenance work, ensures DOT compliance, and maintains service and parts records.

$17.00/hr - $50.00/hr

• Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot, diagnose failures & deficiencies, and perform necessary corrections—including off‑site road repairs/service calls.
• Complete the daily checklist for proper operation of the unit being operated.
• Ensure units have daily maintenance duties performed and communicate any problems or issues immediately.
• Complete and submit all associated paperwork for tracking PM schedules.
• Conduct safety checks & annual vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial & federal laws.
• Ensure equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
• Ensure work meets all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other assignments as assigned by management.
• Understand Clean Compliance Standard.

• 5‑7 years of diesel engine experience.
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Proficiency in all aspects including electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines, etc.
• Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy‑duty forklifts, roll‑off trucks, forklifts, pick‑up trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers.
• Demonstrated proficiency in tooling and equipment diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire.
