About

The Role

The Foreman position is responsible for overseeing the construction, maintenance and operation of electrical systems, to ensure assigned projects are completed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. The role includes knowledge and appropriate use of company policies and processes, proper care of equipment, and on‑job training of crew members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to crews to ensure safe, efficient, and quality operations.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of safety policies and guidelines and ensure crew adherence.
  • Apply expertise in overhead and underground distribution construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and operations, including extensive switching experience.
  • Install, troubleshoot, replace and/or remove common distribution equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, reclosers, switches, GOABs, CT/PT metering, and underground switch gear.
  • Appropriately plan work, including manpower, equipment and material needs, and develop look‑ahead schedules.
  • Ensure work progress, equipment and construction sites are safe, specifications met, and work is on schedule.
  • Ensure company and customer tools and materials are properly utilized, cared for, and secured daily.
  • Collaborate with General Foreman, crew members and customers to solve problems and schedule tasks for maximum effectiveness.
  • Assist crew members engaged in construction activities using hand tools or other equipment.
  • Ensure timely requests for repairs to equipment and machinery to avoid delays and maintain safety.
  • Provide on‑job training and development of crew members in construction methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, best practices, and company policies.
  • Support General Foreman / Project Managers to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Recommend personnel actions (promotions, transfers, hires) and coordinate with General Foreman on recruitment and classification.
  • Enforce adherence to all company policies, processes, work practices, goals and objectives among crew members.
  • Maintain positive relationships with crew members, existing customers and potential customers.
  • Complete required forms and paperwork such as JSA, electronic driver’s logs, vehicle inspections, line tools/equipment inspections, timesheets, expense reports, incident reports and work order redlining.
  • Perform required inspections of tools and equipment such as rubber gloves, blankets, line hoses, insulated booms, hot line sticks and insulated equipment handles.
  • Read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders, blueprints, spec books, system maps and diagrams.
  • Apply planning/organizational skills and delegate work to schedule crew and assign duties to meet deadlines.
  • Use good mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Manage emergency situations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
  • Communicate effectively to relay expectations and company goals to crew members.
  • Demonstrate leadership to guide and train personnel in a safe, effective and positive manner.
  • Speak and write English clearly to communicate instructions and ideas.
  • Display dependability and trustworthiness.
Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working on and around energized high‑voltage primary electric lines.
  • Valid CDL‑A license with a clear driving record.
Key Nice‑To‑Haves
  • Completion of an apprentice program or technical training as a lineman.
  • Multiple years in a Journeyman Lineman classification.
