Our client is seeking a highly skilled Health & Safety Risk Assessor to join their team on a contract basis, focusing on highways. This role involves producing risk assessments and method statements for highway engineering activities. It is essential you can travel to various sites in Hampshire.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce detailed Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) conforming to corporate templates
Undertake in-house risk assessor training and apply this knowledge to complete RAMS
Analyse and assess civil engineering activities within the highways sector to develop RAMS that mitigate health and safety risks
Collaborate with operational staff to develop and agree on safe working procedures
Review and update RAMS as necessary to ensure their effectiveness
Produce a minimum of 25 RAMS over a six-month period, some based on existing RAMS and some newly created
Job Requirements:
Experience in producing risk assessments and method statements independently
Proven ability to work with operational teams to implement practical and safe working practices
Up-to-date knowledge of HSE guidance on RAMS
Effective working knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures (e.g., moving and handling, COSHH, HAVS)
Excellent written communication skills, capable of presenting outputs to managers and operational staff
Ability to work autonomously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
Working Conditions:
Ability to travel to sites throughout Hampshire
Initial office working required in Winchester and/or Micheldever (Hampshire, UK)
Hybrid working available after the initial three-month period
Confident working in hazardous construction environments
Possess basic personal protective equipment (PPE), including high-visibility jacket and trousers, safety boots, and a hard hat
Contract duration of six months, with part-time options available (20-37 hours per week)
