Financial Controller
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Financial Controller to lead and strengthen our finance operations across 9 divisions and 6 group companies. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the month-end close, deliver clear and insightful management reporting, enhance financial controls, and play a key role in developing and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
This is a broad, influential role suited to a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys combining strategic oversight with operational involvement, and would relish making a valuable contribution to continued growth and development across our Group.

Key Responsibilities
 
* Lead the month‑end close and deliver accurate, timely management accounts
 
* Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong financial control
 
* Provide commercial analysis and meaningful insights to senior leadership
 
* Oversee transactional finance: ledgers, credit control, payments, payroll, VAT/CIS, fixed assets and intercompany
 
* Manage cash flow forecasting, daily banking and credit balances
 
* Drive process and system improvements across multiple finance and operational platforms
 
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors
 
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of 10 (6 direct reports).
What we’re looking for
 
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with solid post‑qualification experience
 
* Proven financial control experience outside of practice
 
* Strong systems capability, including advanced Excel
 
* Accurate accounting for Construction Contracts
 
* Confident with FRS
102, VAT, PAYE/NI, CIS and audit processes
 
* Clear communicator able to influence both finance and non‑finance colleagues
 
* A proactive leader with excellent attention to detail and a drive for improvement
 
* Experience managing and developing a team.
