I’m supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Hook, Hampshire, who are looking to bring in an experienced Senior Materials Planner to strengthen their planning and supply chain function. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of material availability, production scheduling, and inventory performance.
As Senior Materials Planner, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials through the business. You’ll be responsible for planning and controlling inventory, scheduling production in line with the order book, and working closely with internal teams to keep customer commitments on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain material plans aligned to production schedules and customer demand
- Plan, control, and optimise inventory levels, balancing availability with cost and risk
- Create and manage production schedules, ensuring capacity and material readiness
- Analyse demand, forecast requirements, and adjust plans proactively
- Collaborate with Procurement to ensure supplier performance supports production needs
- Identify and resolve material shortages, delays, and planning discrepancies
- Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems
- Produce regular reports on material status, risks, and KPIs
- Support continuous improvement across planning and supply chain processes
About You
- Strong background in material planning, production planning, or supply chain within manufacturing
- Confident working with MRP/ERP systems and planning tools
- Analytical, proactive, and able to anticipate issues before they impact production
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable working cross-functionally
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A continuous improvement mindset
