Position: Social Worker Council (Contract)
Social Worker – Safeguarding Team | Hampshire County Council

Locum opportunity

£38 per hour

Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office

Well-established Safeguarding Service

Supportive management and structured supervision

Hampshire County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a frontline practitioner looking to work within a well-organised authority that is committed to delivering high-quality safeguarding services for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans

Undertake Section 47 investigations and safeguarding enquiries

Complete statutory visits, assessments, and care planning within required timescales

Prepare detailed reports for child protection conferences and court proceedings

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children

Maintain accurate and timely case recording in line with statutory guidance

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Experience with in Safeguarding / Child Protection teams

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and statutory frameworks

Ability to manage complex cases and make sound risk-based decisions

Strong communication and multi-agency working skills
