An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our NHS ophthalmology service as a specialist in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Strabismus. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, assessing, investigating and managing patients with complex neuro-ophthalmic conditions and ocular motility disorders.

Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with consultant colleagues, specialty doctors, trainees, orthoptists, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses and other allied healthcare professionals. You will contribute to specialist clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic services and surgical activity, according to service requirements.

The post also offers opportunities to contribute to teaching, clinical governance, audit, research and service development, with participation in the on-call rota as required. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering and developing high-quality specialist ophthalmology services within the NHS.

• Provide a comprehensive
  
  Neuro-Ophthalmology and Strabismus service, including the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of patients with complex neuro-ophthalmic and ocular motility disorders.
• Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care in line with NHS standards, clinical guidance and evidence-based practice.
• Participate in specialist clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and surgical activity appropriate to the needs of the service.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with consultant colleagues, specialty doctors, trainees, orthoptists, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to the assessment and management of patients with complex clinical needs and support effective multidisciplinary decision-making.
• Provide teaching, training and supervision to junior doctors, trainees and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
• Contribute to research and the development of evidence-based clinical practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Participate in the on-call rota and other service commitments as required.
• Work in accordance with NHS policies, professional standards, safeguarding requirements and relevant clinical governance frameworks.
