Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Join the Walgreens team as a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice and develop a health‑care career. The apprenticeship program guides you to achieve Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and provides on‑the‑job training, technology support, and career advancement.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and perform other pharmacy department duties in accordance with company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and record accurate information.
• Model and deliver a distinctive, customer‑friendly experience by greeting customers, resolving issues, and promoting Walgreens service traits.
• Maintain accurate sales records on the assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers to the over‑the‑counter aisle when appropriate.
• Assist in inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments and filing claims for overages or shortages.
• Assist the pharmacist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating with Walgreens health clinics and external providers.
• Support pharmacy department operations by verifying medication interactions, scheduling, and workflow management.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Six months of experience in a retail or pharmacy environment preferred.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
• PTCB certification preferred; certification is required for promotion to senior technician.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
• Attend scheduled training, acquire continuing education credits, and keep up to date with pharmacy practice developments.

Competitive hourly pay ranging from $17.00 to $20.50 per hour. The apprenticeship program offers a chance to earn while you learn and advances you to a career in health care.
