Hours:
Monday-Friday, (9-hour shift including a 60-minute uncompensated lunch break) - On-Call:
Approximately 5 days per month - On-Call
Hours:
1630–0730 (Monday-Friday; Friday on-call extends into Saturday morning) - Call-Back:
Most on-call responses are handled via telephone consultation; if clinical determination requires in-person evaluation, the provider must report to the MTF for call-back services while on-call; all call-back services are performed in support of Emergency Department and inpatient needs.
- Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school. - Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency (no equivalency permitted).
- Experience:
Minimum 2 years of post-residency clinical experience practicing as a Neurologist in an outpatient and/or inpatient clinical setting. - Demonstrated experience evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of neurological disorders.
- Experience in performing and interpreting neurological procedures such as EMGs, nerve conduction studies, lumbar punctures, EEGs, and chemo denervation (e.g., Botox) is required.
- Experience in responding to urgent and emergent neurological consultations, including on-call coverage, is required.
- License/Certification:
Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory. - Board Certified in Adult Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- DEA registration (required prior to start).
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.
- Other Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Provide comprehensive neurological care to adult patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Conduct detailed neurological examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions, including emergency neurological presentations.
- Perform and interpret neurological procedures, including lumbar punctures, nerve conduction studies, electromyography (EMG), EEGs, evoked potentials, and chemo denervation treatments.
- Provide timely on-call neurology consultation, primarily via telephone consults, with in-person response when clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams, including primary care providers, emergency physicians, and specialty consultants.
- Accurately document patient encounters, treatment plans, and procedures in MHS GENESIS.
- Comply with all Defense Health Agency (DHA), Military Treatment Facility (MTF), and clinic-specific policies and procedures.
- Participate in required training, quality assurance activities, and continuing medical education as directed by the facility.
