We are seeking a motivated Structural Project Engineer to join our teams in Virginia Beach and Hampton, VA. This role involves a mix of structural design and inspection, primarily focusing on transportation structures (bridges, ancillary) and waterfront facilities (piers, wharves, bulkheads). The position includes both office and fieldwork, with some travel required.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities- Provide technical engineering information to project managers to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and specifications.
- Review and analyze field and design issues, offering recommendations.
- Perform moderately difficult engineering computations independently.
- Prepare engineering plans and reports.
- Utilize engineering software to prepare design documents.
- Keep project managers informed of workload and scope changes.
- Participate in technical societies.
- Manage small to medium projects from start to finish.
- Coordinate with clients as needed.
- Attend meetings outside of regular hours as required.
- Supervise entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
- Observe safety protocols actively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The base salary ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 plus bonuses and benefits, depending on experience.

Qualifications- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Experience in inspection and/or design of bridges, roads, railroads, marinas, and ports.
- Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification.
- Must be able to sit, stand, handle objects, reach, talk, and hear regularly.
- Occasional walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Lift up to 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Visual abilities required include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Fieldwork may involve rugged conditions, adverse weather, and standing for extended periods.
