Mechanical/Electrical Technician
Amentum

Join our Maintenance Services team k at NASA facilities and support equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
  • Train and qualify in OSHA LOTO responsibilities.
  • Perform field inspections of mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, HVAC, rotating equipment).
  • Field verification of electrical distribution systems and control circuitry; collect data and report failures.
  • Update MAXIMO with equipment histories, work order data, condition monitoring results, and corrective actions.
  • Support development and improvement of job plans, PM tasks, and reliability procedures.
  • Help standardize mechanical maintenance practices to align with reliability goals.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and post‑maintenance testing of mechanical equipment.
  • Document repairs and findings for engineer review.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on chronic equipment issues and gaps in PM tasks.
  • Prepare basic technical summaries, field notes, and photographs to support engineering documentation.
  • Operate rotating machinery, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, valves, cooling water systems, forklifts, man‑lifts, cranes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance per documented procedures; read technical drawings and specifications.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Minimum 4 years total experience: 2 years of college (engineering, mathematics, science) + 2 years relevant experience.
  • Relevant military or aviation maintenance training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety practices (FOD control, LOTO, OSHA).
  • Experience with rotating machinery, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, valves, cooling water systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Office environment 20%;
    Test/industrial environment 75%; travel 5%.
  • Confined spaces, noise, chemicals, hazardous materials – adequate PPE and training provided.
  • Must lift up to 35 lbs, walk, stand, bend, twist, climb, crawl.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Real  identification and a valid driver’s license.
  • Must complete and maintain an approved NASA background investigation.
  • Must work in a team atmosphere and demonstrate professional behavior.
  • Appropriate grooming and dress.
