This role is a Wireless Telecommunications Project Lead responsible for designing and providing technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings, including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi, and Tower Studies.
LocationThis is an on‑site role at our Baton Rouge, LA site. While the position is open at any location in the United States, we aim to hire the best candidates.
Responsibilities- Participate in the entire design process, including preliminary assessments, concept creation, and leading designs with support from peers, SMEs, and BIM designers.
- Resolve internal and external problems, produce drawing packages and specifications, and provide customer and vendor accessibility.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and manage several concurrent projects.
- Design wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
- Coordinate with AHJs, radio system owners, and carriers.
- Create or modify Division 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio, Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or a combination of modeling programs.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communications needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Understanding of noise floor, SNIR, return loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks during design and installation.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72/1221/1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPIs, IBC, FCC Part 20 & 90, FCC OET Bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO, Motorola R56 standards, DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience responding to RFPs, creating budgets, maintaining project schedules, and mitigating risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical or Communication Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE designation.
