Nurse, Psychiatric Care (RN) – Crisis Stabilization – Part-Time

Join our team at Hampton‑Newport News Community Services Board and embark on a rewarding career as a Part‑Time Nurse in Psychiatric Care (RN) focused on Crisis Stabilization. This on‑site position in Hampton, VA offers the opportunity to work directly with individuals in need, providing crisis and supportive counseling in a flexible, high‑performance environment.

Hourly Pay: $37.25 per hour with a $2.50 shift differential for evenings, overnights, and weekends. Work Schedule varies:
Evenings, Overnights, Weekends.

As a Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with a staff psychiatrist to assist in the prescription, administration, and monitoring of client medications while performing thorough client assessments. Your responsibilities will include delivering crisis and supportive counseling, analyzing data to determine appropriate medical and nursing care, and planning tailored treatment strategies to meet each client’s distinct needs.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with psychiatrist to manage medication regimes.
  • Perform comprehensive client assessments.
  • Deliver crisis and supportive counseling.
  • Analyze clinical data to guide medical and nursing care decisions.
  • Plan and coordinate tailored treatment strategies with interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate medical services and oversee medication management.
  • Provide consultation on holistic care planning.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of one year of behavioral health experience.
  • Must register as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) trainee within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
  • Strong communication, crisis intervention, and assessment skills.
  • Commitment to professional development in mental health.

Selected candidates must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test, and employment reference checks.
