Patient Care Tech - Oncology

Position Overview

Sentara Careplex is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Oncology Unit.

Work Shift:

Third (Nights) – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotating weekends.

Type:
Full-time (36 hours per week).

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff who work under the supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care.

Responsibilities include:

delivering patient care, supporting admissions and discharge processes, and complying with patient safety practices. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following programs acceptable for education:
  Sentara Care Partner Certification Program;
  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA);
  National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA);
  National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT); completion of U.S. Navy Hospital Corps School;
  Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic); or current student in a clinical program with at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, PT or recent PCT or Nursing Assistant experience.

• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: one year of health care experience.
