Duties
* You will provide technical expertise and coordinate the integration of the implementation of the Navy's Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program.
* You will take actions on all matters relatives to integrating the spectrum of SOH activities into current readiness, safety management and mishap investigation.
* You will advise commands in developing policies, procedures, and programs relatives to SOH.
* You will provide management with meaningful statistical information on all mishap classes and root causes of afloat mishaps.
* You will review and evaluate design and engineering criteria criteria used for future facilities construction and selected watercraft alterations to identify deficiencies and potential hazards. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
* Must have previously completed or successfully complete the Afloat Environmental Protection coordinate (A-4J0021) and Mishap Investigation (A-493-0073) courses within the first six months of encumbering the position. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience applying excellent oral and written communication skills while conducting training, preparing reports, and interacting with personnel at all levels in the field of Safety and Occupational Health. (SOH)
* Experience analyzing data from accident and injury reports.
* Experience identifying trends and root causes of accident and injuries for preventing future incidents.
* Experience applying knowledge base to evaluate safety and occupational health programs, identifying potential hazards and explaining the need for applying specific safety measures where unsafe conditions are encountered. Education Specialized experience may be substituted with the following education:
* Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

* Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was…
