Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Pharmacy

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Medical Assistant

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Medical Assistant at Hampton University Wellness Clinic is responsible for providing high-quality clinical support and administrative assistance to ensure efficient patient care delivery. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting healthcare providers with medical procedures, administering medications, managing medical records, and supporting clinic operations such as scheduling, insurance verification, and supply management. The LPN/Medical Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and patient-centered environment within the Wellness Clinic.

This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.

Job Duties:

· Monitor patient's vitals, ht/wt, other demographical data, and record them in their file

· Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of each patient, including bathing, feeding and dressing

· Assist nursing and medical staff with basic medical tasks, such as administering medication

· Update patient records in a confidential manner

· Evaluate the patient's wellbeing, reporting any needs to medical staff

· Explain treatments and procedures to patients and families

· Change dressings and bandages, ensuring patients are healing properly

· Other duties assigned by the Dean

Qualifications:

· Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current Virginia licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.

· Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or medical office setting preferred.

· Strong clinical skills in patient care, medication administration, and basic lab procedures.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

· Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications.

· Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and clinic safety standards required.

· Experience with insurance verification and billing preferred.
