Job Overview

As a Senior CNC Machinist
, you will play a critical role in precision manufacturing by setting up, programming, and operating a variety of CNC machines to produce high-quality parts. This position requires advanced technical expertise in machining processes, program editing, and blueprint interpretation to ensure parts meet exact specifications. You’ll collaborate with engineering and quality teams, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment to keep production running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes, vertical mills, and other equipment, to machine parts to exact specifications.
  • Edit CNC programs to accommodate dimensional and tooling changes.
  • Interpret and work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform machining operations such as threading, precision boring, facing, turning, grooving, and contouring.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds, and tooling based on material type, part configuration, and finish requirements.
  • Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and vision systems.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and identify issues requiring further repair.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical or quality issues.

This is a 2nd Shift from 2:30pm-11:00pm.

What your background should look like
  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal technical training, trade school certification, or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands‑on experience operating CNC machines in a job shop or production environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience editing CNC programs.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and shop mathematics.
  • Knowledge of G & M codes, CNC program cycles, and feed and speed identification.
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools; experience with CMM or vision systems is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with small features.
  • Experience with both ferrous and non‑ferrous metals; experience with plastics is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.

COMPENSATION

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $55,700 – $83,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location).

  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
