THESE POSITIONS ARE LOCATED AT THE HAMPTON AQUAPLEX.
The purpose of the position is to teach aquatic classes and provide instruction in water safety, water fitness (deep and shallow), aquatic arthritis, and other related areas as assigned. The instructor works according to established procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or successful GED completion preferred.
- Experience in Aquatics Instruction is preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Current certification from a recognized organization such as the American Red Cross, YMCA of the USA, Aquatic Exercise Association, or equivalent is required.
- This position is safety sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing per City policy.
- Must pass a background check prior to employment or promotion (for applicants 18 and older).
Additional Requirements
- Effective communication skills with customers and colleagues.
- Good hearing and eyesight.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- May be considered "essential personnel" during emergencies, which could involve long hours and unusual schedules.
