Ready-Mix Truck Driver - Hampton Roads

Job Title: Ready Mix Truck Driver - Hampton Roads
Location: Newport News, VA

Department: Concrete
Reports To: Superintendent

Drive trucks equipped with concrete mixers to transport and dump concrete at construction sites.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment.
• Pull or push levers to turn mixer drum and dump contents.
• Move hand and foot controls to position truck forward and backward to aid in the placement of concrete.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies in accordance with CDL pre‑trip guidelines.
• Use hand tools when necessary.
• Oil, lubricate, and perform general maintenance of equipment when required.
• Adhere to DOT standards and requirements.
• Maintain daily log.
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

• Valid CDL Class A or B license with air brake endorsement.
• Minimum 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles preferred.
• Acceptable vision for day and night driving.
• Real  for accessing military bases; if not available, must obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Basic math skills.

• High School Diploma / GED.

• Climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
• Must be able to climb up and down a ladder.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
• Overtime work required.
• Physical strength must allow climbing in and out of truck, carrying chutes, and other tasks.
