Job SummaryThe Monitor Technician monitors cardiac rhythms on patient beds, reads and interprets the display, and relays important information to nursing staff. The role also includes clerical support, electronic health record entry, and collaboration with physicians and registered nurses.
Responsibilities- Monitors electrocardiograms continuously, identifies and interprets cardiac rhythms, documents arrhythmias, and reports significant changes to nursing staff.
- Supports unit monitoring and evaluation processes to improve patient outcomes.
- Provides frontline electronic medical record order entry support for physicians and staff.
- Monitors electronic medical records throughout the day and addresses concerns with the registered nurse as necessary.
- Assists with admission and discharge processes; ensures physician progress notes are ready in chart.
- Maintains the Central Electrocardiogram (EKG) Telemetry Monitoring system for the Direct Observation Unit.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High School Education/GED or equivalent:
Required - Associate’s or Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience:
Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification:
