Job Description
Job Title: Pastor (solo) full time
Position reports to: Church Session
Salary Range: $75, Benefits included (manse/housing; medical, life, etc.

Position Overview:
The pastor is responsible for ensuring that the church achieves its mission by strengthening the spiritual development of members and leading them to reach out into the community to witness for Jesus Christ and to welcome them into membership.
Responsibilities:
- Pulpit ministry; including Sunday sermons, funerals, weddings, and special services
- Minister to all ages, especially those who are ill, bereaved, or in hurting situations, taking sacraments toshut‑ins, and hospital visitation
- Work with the congregation to reach out into the community with the good news of the Gospel and help bring new members into the church
- Moderate monthly session meetings, congregational meetings and attend quarterly deacon’s meetings
- Office work, including the weekly bulletin; computer, printer, copy machine, etc. are provided in pastor’s office. The church does not employ a secretary.
- Be willing to initiate and support adult, children and youth ministries
- Regularly attend and be active in Presbytery, accepting committee assignments
- Believe the Essentials of Our Faith as stated by the EPC without reservation
- Present engaging Biblical sermons with enthusiasm
- Love to preach, teach, and study to help the congregation live as faithful Christians in a secular world
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be comfortable in a rural village setting, enjoy the give and take of honest discourse and possess a warm sense of humor
Educational Requirements:
Masters of Divinity from an accredited school
Location: Big Creek Presbyterian Church, Rensselaer, MO (10 miles west of Hannibal, MO; 100 miles north of St. Louis). The community is small, rural and agriculturally based. The church is located in the Monroe City R-1 School District.
Big Creek Church was established in 1834 and has an enduring multi‑generational congregation of about 40+ members.
