Overview
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to learn the day‑to‑day operations of veterinary practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Every NVA hospital shares a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Responsibilities- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical examinations
- Create and follow treatment plans
- Conduct diagnostics and dental services
- Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care of patients
- Communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Externship experiences at Hanover Park Animal Care Center typically last between two and eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to apply.
