General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows best‑practice standards in all work centers, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Recognizes safety as the top priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a clutter‑free sales floor with clear egress to emergency exits and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greets customers with eye contact, a smile, and friendly conversation, and says "thank you" at every register transaction.
  • Assists customers in any way necessary, is register‑trained, answers questions politely, and responds to service calls immediately.
  • Addresses customer issues courteously, calling store leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per company best practice and monthly presentation guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, processes MOS merchandise correctly, and notifies store leadership for disposal approvals.
  • Follows all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transaction procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform the role, maximizes productivity, and minimizes steps and touches in workflow.
