About the RoleWe are seeking a Director to join our Alternatives/Middle Market Private Capital (Alts/MMPC) team. The team, comprising 25 professionals, manages more than $24 billion of assets on behalf of Met Life’s general account and affiliated investors. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on primary fund commitments across global private equity, equity co‑investments, and senior/junior lending to North American sponsor‑backed portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities- Source and track new opportunities with external investment managers and equity co‑investments; lead fund due diligence, including data room review, portfolio analysis, and fundamental research of holdings.
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
- Meet with existing private equity sponsors to monitor investment performance, understand organizational changes, and receive market updates.
- Conduct market research and keep abreast of industry trends, assisting in sector reviews for private equity portfolio segments.
- Analyze and monitor existing portfolio relationships through annual meetings and quarterly report reviews.
- Train, mentor, and onboard junior staff members.
- Maintain and update financial models and databases.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in due diligence, selection, monitoring, and management of private equity funds and/or direct investments; significant experience in venture capital primary commitments and direct investments preferred.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and results‑focused.
- Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or a related analytical/quantitative field.
- MBA, master’s degree, and/or CFA highly desirable.
Location Expectation
:
Hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
Compensation
: $145,000 to $180,000 base salary, with potential eligibility for annual short‑term incentive compensation and stock‑based long‑term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms.
