Position: Senior Frontend Engineer (UI/UX)

Embark on a transformative journey as a Senior Frontend Engineer (UI/UX). At Barclays, our vision is clear – to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. In Asset Servicing, we’re building next-generation tools for Global Markets, and you’ll play a key part in shaping the user experience. You’ll work closely with Operations and Product teams to design and build intuitive interfaces for a new, greenfield platform built on modern tech and best practices.

To be successful as a Senior Frontend Engineer (UI/UX), you should have experience with:

  • Designing, building, testing, and implementing responsive UIs using React, React Testing Library, React Query, Type Script, JavaScript, Redux, Angular, HTML, CSS, Styled Components, and ES6

  • Using Figma or similar tools to inspect design specs, collaborate with designers, and ensure accurate UI implementation

  • Applying UI/UX principles to deliver smooth, intuitive user experiences with good attention to detail

  • Writing clean, efficient, maintainable code using object-oriented design principles

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Working with build tools and CI/CD pipelines such as Git Lab

  • Exposure to Java, databases, or AI-driven technologies

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure

  • Understanding containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in this role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is located in Whippany, New Jersey.

Minimum Salary: $120,000

Maximum Salary: $175,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
