A perfectionist with intense attention to detail, exceptional machining skills and creative problem‑solving capabilities will be well suited for a challenging position in Creare’s shop. Creare is an R&D environment where new technologies are developed in prototype quantities. Machining jobs range from basic ones to those requiring the utmost precision where tolerances are often less than one ten‑thousandth of an inch.
Hardware examples include miniature gas‑bearing turbo machines that spin at over 500,000 rpm, a cryogenic refrigerator on the Hubble Space Telescope, turbomolecular vacuum pumps on Mars, and aircraft carrier equipment.
- Develop process plans and fixture designs.
- Machining and inspection of components.
