Position Purpose

This new hire will work in a hybrid laboratory, contributing to major experiments involving bacterial/fungal/host cell culturing, sample preparation and metabolic extraction, gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry (GC‑MS) operation, and stable isotope labeling. The primary goal is to understand metabolic reprogramming during the yeast‑to‑hyphae transition in the fungal pathogen Candida albicans. The role will also involve cross‑lab collaborations using these technologies and assisting with GC‑MS training and routine maintenance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1‑2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Competence in learning laboratory methods, procedures and techniques as well as equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment, organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to work with hazardous materials, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with microbial pathogens, metabolomics, and mass spectrometry.
Key Accountabilities
  • Conduct laboratory experiments using established methods and troubleshoot as necessary; maintain equipment and instrumentation.
  • Adhere to data quality control policies, safety requirements, and waste disposal methods.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data; prepare progress reports and contribute to scientific manuscripts.
  • Provide technical guidance to others on laboratory methods and techniques.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, monitor equipment performance, and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness; perform other duties as assigned.
