Data Science Manager, Data Security
Dartmouth is seeking two experienced Senior Business Development and Licensing Managers: one will focus on Life Sciences and Digital Health, and the other will manage a portfolio in Engineering, Physical Sciences, AI, and Computer Science.
Reporting to the Director, they are responsible for managing intellectual property (IP) and commercializing Dartmouth research innovations and will support Dartmouth researchers and advance Dartmouth technology for the betterment of the world. They will identify, evaluate, market, and license Dartmouth discoveries, creations, and IP assets, and be responsible for structuring and managing licensing transactions and industry collaborations. They will develop collaborative relationships with researchers, actively engage with industry, and support Dartmouth start-up companies and new ventures.
Our team is part of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer and heavily involved in supporting start-ups and advancing entrepreneurship. The positions may be hybrid, with onsite availability and minimum commitment to be agreed, as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications for the Sr Business Development and Licensing Manager for Life Sciences and Digital Health- Advanced degree in life sciences or biomedical sciences plus 7 or more years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience and expertise in life sciences with a broad technical understanding of diverse scientific areas relating to biomedical research and digital healthcare or healthcare informatics.
- Experience in management and commercialization of biomedical and/or biotech assets.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field plus 7 or more years’ experience or combination of education and experience.
- Experience in management and monetization of engineering, physical science, data, AI, digital, and/or media assets, understanding of open source, expertise in digital transformation, including areas like data analytics.
- Strong ability to understand and convey the value of engineering, digital and IT-related technologies and AI to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred:
Advanced degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field.
- At least 7+ years of relevant experience in academic technology transfer or business development in a for-profit, with a proven track record of success in licensing and commercialization of IP assets.
- Experience in industry and working with startup companies and/or venture capital.
- Extensive network within relevant industries.
- Knowledge of IP law and Federal law and regulations pertaining to academic technology transfer and ability to clearly communicate them to researchers and other constituencies.
- Passion for development and commercialization of early-stage technologies for societal benefit, with strong interpersonal, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating term sheets, options, licenses, and other complex agreements relating to IP. Excellent negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit. Commitment to advancing inventorship and entrepreneurship among underrepresented constituents.
