Overview

Communications and Marketing Coordinator at Dartmouth College's Center for the Advancement of Learning (DCAL) is responsible for the overall communications and marketing of the learning innovation portfolio. This includes developing web content, overseeing social media, design and print activities, and marketing events. In concert with other center staff and partners, the Coordinator contributes to DCAL’s overall strategic communication plans and oversees outreach strategies to promote excellence in teaching and learning, Dartmouth’s commitment to academic innovation, and supporting mental health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
  • Content Development and Editing:
    Establishes and implements a comprehensive strategic communications plan aligned with DCAL’s portfolio, programs, and institutional priorities; develops on-brand content for websites, news stories, newsletters, social media, video, spotlights, infographics, and presentations; applies best practices with attention to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Website and Digital Content:
    Designs tests (A/B testing) to improve performance of website content and institutional messages; ensures materials adhere to Dartmouth brand guidelines and DCAL voice; acts as primary copy editor for web and newsletter content.
  • Event Marketing and Tracking:
    Supports event postings and reminders; assists with improvements to DCAL’s event system to support center goals.
  • Website Management:
    Maintains and updates DCAL resources websites, writes engaging content, conducts content audits, creates site maps, migrates content, and conducts other web duties.
  • Coordination and

    Collaboration:

    Works with DCAL staff and partners to update newsletters and website content; ensures accessibility and usability, including PDFs; coordinates with the Office of Communications to develop image libraries for Dartmouth messaging.
  • Analysis:
    Provides reports on newsletter, social media, and website performance; analyzes metrics and conducts tests to improve engagement.
  • Other Duties:
    Demonstrates commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness; performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Outstanding writing skills in a variety of communication formats
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with partners and collaborators and to represent DCAL
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, be flexible, and collaborate in a dynamic environment
  • Creative problem solving and troubleshooting in communications and events
  • Tact and discretion with sensitive or confidential matters
  • Ability to work across the Dartmouth community to promote strategic communications and marketing goals
  • Familiarity with confidentiality regulations including FERPA
  • Commitment to inclusion and to serving a diverse institution
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in communications or related field; 7+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or project management
  • Familiarity with DCAL programs and practices
