Schedule: Flexible part-time, up to 35 hours a week, 7 days a week
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Under close supervision, sets up and arranges serving areas and dining rooms in College dining facilities. Serves food from counters and prep areas to customers. Performs simple food preparation duties, stores leftover food items and cleans kitchen utensils and equipment, and maintains dining room areas. Operates point-of-sale system and welcomes Dining guests. Flexibly scheduled part-time work is available.
Key Accountabilities- Assist in preparing service stations for daily operations.
- Convey food and supplies from the kitchen, bakery, and/or salad preparation area to the serving site by carrying or using a cart.
- Stock and arrange food, dishes, silverware, and other supplies at steam tables, ice counters, salad bars, and serving stations.
- Serve food items to customers from counters and/or steam tables, ensuring appropriate portions are served.
- Prepare hot and cold beverages.
- Wrap, date-label, and properly store food items.
- Replenish foods and condiments at serving stations.
- Clean tables and seats and general dining area in accordance with sanitary procedures.
- Scrub and polish counter, steam tables, and other equipment; remove food after meals and clean equipment, counters, and work areas.
- Learn and follow safety precautions and proper food protection and handling procedures.
- Operate Point-of-Sale system to swipe customer , itemize and total purchases; greet and welcome guests.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness in interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- No previous experience required.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Food service experience.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic understanding of cleanliness procedures and general sanitation regulations.
- Ability to learn proper food protection and handling procedures.
- Ability to learn methods and procedures used in food service operations.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to apply customer relations procedures and policies.
