position purposethe access control iii will be proficient in all aspects of the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electronic access control and alarm intrusion systems. Uses a high level of skill to perform a variety of tasks involved with installing, analyzing and repairing all types of access control systems, including all computers, camera, keys, electronic locks, security systems, and centralized clock systems.
Working in a service‑oriented environment, the access control tech iii will successfully communicate with members of the dartmouth community while carrying out their tasks.
high school or equivalency.
required qualifications – skills, knowledge and abilities- technical school graduate, relevant associate’s degree, or have equivalent education and experience.
- ten years of relevant experience of which four must have been served as an apprentice or equivalent position.
- must have a valid driver’s license and be qualified under the terms of the dartmouth college driver safety and motor vehicle policy.
- expert in all aspects of networked/automated electronic systems including knowledge of processor‑based communication and alarm systems and software.
- expert in the knowledge of applicable codes, specifically nfpa 101, life safety code; nfpa 80, standard for fire doors; international building code ibc; american disabilities act (ada).
- working knowledge of college construction guidelines.
- expert in the installation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical locking systems.
- expert in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic lock systems and access control systems.
- must have skill in the use of hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, man lifts, testing devices and ladders.
- ability to follow complex written and oral assignments and communicate effectively.
- be able to work independently under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and have excellent problem‑solving skills.
- ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- computer skills on laptop, tablet and/or smartphone including word processing, spreadsheets and skilled with microsoft office software.
- willingness to work overtime as required.
- strong attention to detail.
- able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- must possess advanced computer skills related to troubleshooting and programming access control systems.
