Position: High School Assistant Orchestra Director 2025-2026

  • Bachelor’s degree, in music, music education, or music performance with a concentration in strings, string pedagogy, string music education, or a performance degree on a string instrument or conducting.
  • Valid Texas music teaching certificate or ability to acquire Texas music certification.
  • Be highly proficient on one string instrument as the primary instrument.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient on all string instruments.
  • Have good conducting skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret conductors’ scores.
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of overall operations of an orchestralinstrumental music program.
  • Knowledge of state, TMEA, and UIL policies governing orchestra.
  • Experience performing with a college and/or community orchestra.
PRIMPARY

PURPOSE:

Assist head director with orchestra program and teach/conduct non-varsity orchestral ensembles. Assist with growth and improvement of student musicianship and skills, and of overall orchestral program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree, in music, music education, or music performance with a concentration in strings, string pedagogy, string music education, or a performance degree on a string instrument or conducting.
  • Valid Texas music teaching certificate or ability to acquire Texas music certification.
